Careers

At The Stables Independent School, we use Complete Careers Career Education Programme to deliver our Careers teaching.

We want to prepare our pupils for an increasingly diverse and dynamic labour market. We feel that to succeed in this environment, our pupils need to be able to manage their career paths through each twist and turn. Our curriculum supports them to develop the skills and qualities needed to do this. They are designed to make the pupils think, explore and enthuse about the career prospects that are open to them.

From Year 7 onwards, our pupils participate in Careers lessons. We use the Complete Careers Education Programme to deliver lessons with resources being adapted as appropriate. The lessons have been designed to be fun and inclusive and they are differentiated and adapted to match the needs and abilities of our pupils. All our pupils take part in our PATHS programme which is another tool used to help our pupils consider their future careers and develop their aspirations for life after school.

Careers education is embedded across the curriculum and pupils participate in careers assemblies and events. Years 2 to 6 have careers information and knowledge embedded in appropriate lessons and it is taught more discretely as appropriate to age and stage. Certain PHRSE lessons dedicated to Careers education and the school uses invited guests to discuss job roles and opportunities in the local area. Visits and trips are also arranged to workplaces and careers event activities.
